I think I am going to remove my ATT modem and use the PPPoE opting on my WRT54GL and see how that works out too.safoohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06025883941883675044noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7876560611515310173.post-3351225178411369202008-05-23T14:50:00.000-05:002008-05-23T14:50:00.000-05:002008-05-23T14:50:00.000-05:00I have been running DD-WRT for a while now, it is ...I have been running DD-WRT for a while now, it is a lot more stable and forgiving than the standard firmware on the WRT54G. I have to run the micro, since I have a v6, and upgrading the router was a lot easier then it you are lead to believe. I have a Netgear and a 2wire modem/router combo and a few routers, I chose to use the one running DD-WRT for the security and stability.Danhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07564184180173381856noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7876560611515310173.post-10745562584120684012008-05-23T08:52:00.000-05:002008-05-23T08:52:00.000-05:002008-05-23T08:52:00.000-05:00I second the nod for Tomato firmware instead of DD...I second the nod for Tomato firmware instead of DD-WRT.Toddhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05359769171850305531noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7876560611515310173.post-48774841975389233582008-05-11T16:30:00.000-05:002008-05-11T16:30:00.000-05:002008-05-11T16:30:00.000-05:00I've been using DD-wrt for a 2 months, since i swi...I've been using DD-wrt for a 2 months, since i switched to tomato. Note that even the DD-WRT "Micro" developers recommend buying a fully supported router rather than attempting to install the "Micro" firmware. My reading gives me the impression that the opportunity to "brick" these substandard routers is higher than I'd like it to be. I was going to do this upgrade until I read some info in the DD-WRT Wiki.Jasonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04185119836022599212noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7876560611515310173.post-78280577068574846252008-05-02T20:59:00.000-05:002008-05-02T20:59:00.000-05:002008-05-02T20:59:00.000-05:00Ditto. Also has opt packages which allows you to install software. Personally I'm using openwrt with x-wrt GUI but have ctorrent, irssi on it as well. Asterik is available for it plus tonnes of other. If you buy one of these pay attention to the version numbers some have more memory then other so more can go on it and make it more versatile. This is the easiest way to turn a 60$ router into a enterprise level appliance.Neilhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15147470512813512836noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7876560611515310173.post-91720127275465139342008-05-02T06:48:00.000-05:002008-05-02T06:48:00.000-05:002008-05-02T06:48:00.000-05:00You should mention that you need to be connected v...You should mention that you need to be connected via an ethernet cable or your router will potentially brick.Jasonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06587041798657453834noreply@blogger.com
